・・・‘Fujino Club’ Hyakusho no Daidokoro（Farmer’s kitchen）・・・
Hyakusho no Dokoro is a garden restaurant managed by the agricultural group ‘Fujino Club’.
Fujino Club run a relaxed garden, with an emphasis on naturally cultivated produce.
As such they use their own hand picked seasonal vegetables within the restaurant.
Here you have a taste from a menu primarily based on Korean cuisine.
An atmosphere of openness greets you at the counter seats, which rest beside a window wall through which you can witness the breathtaking sight of the surrounding mountains, which spread out before your eyes.
The spacious interior of the restaurant make for an environment where you can easily bring along your family for a nice, relaxed meal.
The restaurant also provides a variety of reading material, including novels, picture books and comics, so you can sit yourself down in comfort and spend some time reading at your leisure.
Their ‘chicken ginseng soup (aka samgyetang) set’ (¥1,400) is a popular, high class medicinal soup made according to an authentic, traditional Korean recipe, containing painstakingly boiled ginseng and other medicinal herbs.
It’s served boiling hot in a stone pot, so the first thing you should do is take in the piping hot fragrance.
The soup contains a whole chicken stuffed with ingredients like sticky rice and jujube, and its rich scent and gentle yet deep flavour will slowly seem to spread through your whole body.
The samgyetang comes with some springy, fermented brown rice and a choice of dishes made from locally produced ingredients.
Within the restaurant is a space where the works of local authors are on display, which you can enjoy in a cafe-style atmosphere.
They also serve some homemade sweets and provide a cafe menu (only coffee is sold on weekdays), making it a popular spot among local coffee drinkers.
Fujino Club also cultivate their own tea leaves, which are grown without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilisers.
These tea leaves are used to make their ‘Fujino Mountainside Tea’, which you can buy in-store.
You can also buy some of this tea as a souvenir to take home.
With a refreshing taste and not a hint of bitterness, we have to recommend you try this Fujino-produced green tea.
Within the premises there’s also an outdoor area set up for customers have some fun in.
Their ‘Tennis Package (¥3,000 per person)’ is a plan that’s great value for money, offering guests the chance enjoy some tennis in the company of mother nature, and includes not just a meal but also a trip to ‘Yamanami Onsen’ (located about a 10 minute walk away from Hyakusho).
At the barbecue spot you can enjoy some delicious food prepared on an Oya stone gas range while taking in the incredible scenery at the terrace seats.
You can also camp there (tents available for ¥1,000 each), making it perfect for anyone wanting a nice and easy experience in the great outdoors.
Hyakusho is also available for use as a venue for live shows and other events (for more information refer to their homepage).
In the early morning of the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, it hosts the Fujino Farmer’s Market, where local farmers bring their fresh vegetables to be sold.
Despite the early start the market is always packed and lively with customers both local and visiting, all after the freshest Fujino vegetables.
Hyakusho hosts all sorts of events like this, where local folk can freely come together and socialise.
